Rebound Facility to be Opened at Serennu Children’s Centre

Our trampoline and bouldering facility will be officially opened next month. It enhances options at Serennu Children’s Centre to provide care, treatment, and activities to support children and young people with complex needs.

The £820,000 facility enables rebound therapy, which combines bounce, momentum, and rhythm to facilitate active movement in a hands-off approach using the installed trampoline. Children with disabilities and developmental difficulties who attend Serennu Children’s Centre will benefit from the therapies and recreational activities afforded by this new facility.

The new rebound facility will be officially opened by Julie Morgan MS, Deputy Minister for Social Services, when she visits Serennu Children’s Centre at 12 noon on 6 July. During her visit, the Deputy Minister will see children and young people engaging in therapies and fun using the new features of the rebound centre.

This innovative project was jointly funded by the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) and Sparkle, the Gwent charity which supports children with disabilities and developmental difficulties and their families.

Sparkle Chair of Trustees Janet Kelly says, “This is a wonderful new addition to the excellent facilities at the Serennu Children’s Centre. We can now offer highly beneficial leisure experiences and treatment opportunities that were previously unavailable to the children and young people who attend the centre.”
