Real-life winter wonderland helps special children shine this Christmas
Tracey and Chris Rainbow, who live in Newport, create amazing Christmas light displays each year. Earlier this month, they noticed a young boy (who is supported by Sparkle) standing and watching the display, completely mesmerised, while testing their lights.
Tracey said:
"We were stopped by a dad the other day when decorating the outside of our house for Christmas and he was telling us how his son kept asking him when the house on the corner would put up their Christmas lights.
He was telling me that his son loves them, and they drive past every night because of this. He wanted to thank us for what we do every year, and asked if there was any way he could give us a donation."
While Tracey explained that herself and Chris don't accept money for their efforts, they both felt overwhelmed by his very kind words.
The next day at work, Tracey mentioned this exchange to her colleague Danielle who told her all about Sparkle.
Tracey decided to reach out to our fundraising team, and with Chris, decided to use their festive display to raise funds for us.
"We love decorating our house and bringing joy and happiness to others. It takes a few stressful days to do, but it's worth it to hear the pleasure and excitement it gives to this young boy, and hopefully many others... we will continue to support Sparkle every Christmas!"
Life isn't easy for some of our children, young people or their families. That's why we are always fundraising to provide our unique services, trained staff and state-of-the-art equipment needed to ensure we have the highest quality facilities and support in place.
Thank you to Tracey and Chris for supporting our charity.
Tracey and Chris have kindly invited others to come and view their Christmas lights and are accepting donations for Sparkle via JustGiving, Text to Donate, or cash (which can be posted through the letterbox).
If you wanted to visit and see this winter wonderland in person and make a donation to help special children shine this Christmas, the address is: Innsbrook House, Handworth Street. NP19 0FL.
