Global technology leader has donated £25,000 for young people supported by Sparkle to learn the importance of technology.

KLA develops industry-leading equipment and services that enable innovation throughout the electronics industry. Last year, KLA partnered with our charity.

Our goal as a charity is to provide support for as many children and young people with disabilities and/or developmental difficulties as possible, ensuring that they can take part in valuable childhood experiences, activities, and leisure services that many take for granted.

A lot of the children who use our services have profound needs that prevent them from accessing the same social clubs and activities as other children in the community. This can make it difficult for them to socialise and make friends.

To provide these children with an opportunity to connect with others who share similar interests, Sparkle hosts weekly tech club sessions. 

These sessions support young people with their self-esteem, confidence and social skills by engaging in fun activities involving a shared interest in technology.

We are thrilled to have KLA supporting Tech Club at the Serennu Children's Centre after staff visited our sessions last year. 

Sparkle's Tech Club supervisor Kieran Richards said:

"We are extremely grateful for the support of KLA. The last time KLA visited Tech Club, they delivered a coding session with BBC Microbits where the young people had to write a piece of computer code to navigate a robotic car around a maze.

The young people thoroughly enjoyed this session and keep asking for KLA to be invited back."
