Disney, Pixar and MediCinema provides special screenings of blockbuster, Inside Out 2, for Sparkle's special children

This Summer, we teamed up with MediCinema for some special screenings of Disney and Pixar's "Inside Out 2" at the Serennu Children's Centre in Rogerstone. The film reunites with Riley who welcomes new Emotions to Headquarters to help her navigate life as a teenager.

MediCinema is a charity which has been building and running cinemas inside hospitals with spaces for beds, wheelchairs and medical equipment for 25 years and is one of Disney's four strategic charitable partners in the UK.

The unique MediCinema facility at Serennu Children's Centre is the only one of its kind in Wales, and features a fully-accessible cinema space equipped to provide a safe and controlled environment for children with additional needs to enjoy the latest releases.

The special "Inside Out 2" event which welcomed around 50 children, was made possible thanks to Disney's generous support.

They provided activities, official toys and merchandise, and children's entertainers to created balloon art of the characters from the film, making special moments that matter for everyone who came.

Visiting mainstream cinemas often presents several challenges for children such as those supported by Sparkle. Physical accessibility, sensory sensitivities, and social stigmas can make the cinema experience overwhelming, often leading families to avoid it.

Hannah Day, mum of Seren who is 9 and has autism spectrum disorder, said:

"Seren can access the MediCinema at Serennu knowing she is in a safe space; it takes the pressure and anxiety out of going."

Following the screening, Seren Day said that she enjoyed the film and Joy is her favourite character.

Jon Jones, MediCinema technical assistant at Serennu Children's Centre said:
"It was wonderful to see so many children and their families enjoying Inside Out 2 and all the special activities. We know that visiting the MediCinema at the Serennu Children's Centre means so much to so many people."
